Friends
Dear music-lovers, |
|
I would like to enlist your support for an idea that has been gaining ground in the art and music sphere for some time now: private support for culture. I also hope to convince you that is worth while supporting our orchestra in particular by becoming a member of the Friends of Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, an association described in the following.
How can you keep a freelance symphony orchestra alive for more than one season? One thing’s for sure: without the support of well-known sponsors from industry and the business world the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra would never have survived, particularly as the City of Heidelberg struck the orchestra off its culture budget in 2005, since then only granting it occasional support for individual projects.
In a situation like this, one form of advancement that plays a major role in the USA takes on especial significance: private support. Individuals, married couples, and companies make a regular contribution to assuring the continued existence of „their“ orchestra in the form of an annual donation.
To this end we established the Friends of the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra a number of years ago. Recently this society has seen a significant increase in the number of its members, a development as crucial as it is gratifying as the society has long been an indispensable source of the funds needed to continue with our work. And this support will need to increase if we are to continue providing symphony concerts with renowned soloists and high-quality festival events.
May I invite you very cordially to make the acquaintance of the Friends of the Orchestra? Read here why it is such a pleasure to be a part of this society. As conductor and artistic director of the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra I intend to ensure that you will always have reason to be proud of „your“ orchestra.
